Canadian pop-rocker Avril
Lavigne will wed her
longtime boyfriend and
frontman for the band Sum
41, Deryck Whibley, her
publicist told AFP.
"Yes, she is engaged. It's
all good," publicist Sean
Cordner said, refusing to
give any details of their
upcoming nuptuals.
According to a US magazine,
Whibley, 25, proposed to the
20-year-old singer at the
end of her European tour.
The couple started dating in
early 2004 after a long
friendship.
Both grew up in towns in the
province of Ontario --
Lavigne in Nepean and
Whibley in Ajax -- and have
since achieved tremendous
success both in Canada and
abroad.
Sum 41's latest album
"Chuck" ranked in the top 10
albums of Billboard charts
while Lavigne got five
Grammy nominations for her
debut album "Let Go."
Her second album "Under My
Skin" hit number one in the
music charts.
