Canadian Stars Avril Lavigne
And Sum 41's Deryck Whibley

Avril Lavigne is reportedly
marrying fellow Canadian
rock star Deryck Whibley,
the frontman for Sum 41.
Us Weekly reported that
25-year-old Whibley proposed
over the weekend while
Lavigne, 20, was finishing
up the European leg of her
tour.
The pair began dating in
early 2004 and had been
friends for several years
before that, the magazine
said.
Lavigne is from Napanee,
Ont., and Whibley comes from
Ajax, Ont.
The couple reportedly bought
a home together in Los
Angeles last year.
An English tabloid reported
in September of last year
that the pair got engaged
but it turned out to be a
hoax.
Whibley had apparently
pretended to propose to
Lavigne in full view of
paparazzi, just to show how
easily it is to mislead the
tabloids.
But this time publicists for
both musicians confirmed the
engagement to Us Weekly.
Both Lavigne and Whibley's
band Sum 41 have had
tremendous success in Canada
and internationally.
Sum 41's latest album Chuck
cracked the Top 10 of the
Billboard album charts and
the band has had several
popular rock singles.
Lavigne took the world by
storm with the release of
her debut album Let Go,
which got her five Grammy
nominations.
Her followup Under My Skin
went to No. 1 on the
Billboard charts.
