Avril Lavigne Show Goes On in Malaysia

Just days after the government of Malaysia ordered the promoters of a concert by the Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne to be postponed, the decision has been reversed, the Malaysian news agency Bernama reported. Her act was deemed too risqué by the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, which called for the cancellation of the show, scheduled for Aug. 29, just two days before the Independence Day of this predominately Muslim country. The concert, in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, was given the go-ahead after the promoter, Galaxy Group, assured officials that the performance would not contain any objectionable elements.
